Westchester Community College continues to monitor closely the evolving public health situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). A Preparedness Response Team is working closely with all areas of the college to respond to this evolving situation. The team continues to maintain close contact with the Westchester County Department of Health, New York State Department of Health, and the State University of New York System Administration.
Academic Support
Q: What do I do if I need a tutor?
A: Students will be able to access the Academic Support Center tutorial services remotely via our ASKATUTOR service Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For more information visit https://www.sunywcc.edu/academics/asc/ask-a-tutor/
In addition, Westchester Community College offers FREE online tutoring for students who are enrolled in the courses that are supported by the Academic Support Center through NetTutor. NetTutor will be offering tutorial support around the Academic Support Center hours of operation. Q. What if I need student services?
A. The main campus and all extension centers are closed until further notice, but we have many services available online and via phone. For the latest updates on our services please visit the web page of the service you need and they will have their contact information readily available.

Q. Are classes canceled?
Q. How long will classes take place online instead of in person?
A. All spring classes will be offered via remote learning for the remainder of the semester. Registration for summer and fall courses is ongoing.
All English as a Second Language (ESL) courses offered through the English Language Institute will be offered via remote learning until further notice.
Spring noncredit courses are canceled unless notified directly by your instructor. Registration for summer noncredit courses is ongoing.
Commencement
Q: Is Commencement still happening?
A: The college has postponed Commencement from May 14, 2020 until December 22, 2020. All August 2019, December 2019, May 2020, August 2020, and December 2020 graduates will be invited to the Commencement ceremony on December 22, 2020.
Online Learning
Q. What happens if I don’t have home internet access?
A. We understand the accessibility issues you may have by transitioning to online courses.
If you have a smartphone, Blackboard offers a mobile app you can download for free from the app store and is supported on devices that are running iOS 9.0+, Android 4.2+ and Windows 10+.
Here are some companies that are offering free service to students during this crisis.
- ALTICE - internet providers Suddenlink and Optimum are offering 60 days of free internet service for households with K–12 or college students. To sign up, call 1-866-200-9522 if you live in an area with Optimum internet service, or call 1-888-633-0030 if you live in an area with Suddenlink internet service.
- NETZERO - Free Dial-up to 10 hours a month call 1-800-638-9376
- SPRINT and T-MOBILE - Offering unlimited data for 60 days (if already a customer with a limited data plan) Contact your provider for details.
