Introducing the Health Sciences Learning Community
Joining a Health Science Learning Community will help you succeed as you prepare to work in the healthcare field.

What is the Health Sciences Learning Community?
The Health Sciences Learning Community brings together first-year, full-time students who are interested in a career in the healthcare field and/or nursing. The program encourages students to learn and grow together in a program tailored to their academic needs.
Students in the Learning Community will interact with faculty in and out of the classroom and participate in small, customized academic support sessions. Students will learn about career options in the healthcare field and opportunities for transfer to four-year institutions after graduating from Westchester Community College.
Students in the Health Sciences Learning Community will take the following courses together during the two-year program:
- ENG 101/99: Writing & Research + Writing Studio*
- MATH 93: Beginning Algebra*
- COLSC 100: First-Year Seminar
- BIOL 101: Principles of Biological Science
- ENG 102: Writing & Literature
- PSYCH 101: Introduction to Psychology
- BIOL 121: Anatomy & Physiology I
- BIOL 123: Anatomy & PhysiologyII
- BIOL 221: General Microbiolgy
*Students who place into college level English and Math classes may also participate in the Learning Community.
