MyCAA Eligibility Requirements
- Spouses of an active-duty Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, National Guard, or Reserve member in pay grades E-1 to E-6, W-1 to W-2, or O-1 to O-3 are eligible.
- Spouses of National Guard or AGR Members on federal Title 10 active-duty orders, may be eligible.

What is the MyCAA Scholarship?
The My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship program is a workforce initiative for spouses of active-duty service members developed by the Department of Defense’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program. Spouses that are approved can receive up to $4,000 in funding to pursue career training, certifications, or associate degrees for a specific career.
Does the MyCAA Scholarship pay for everything related to my courses?
The MyCAA Scholarship pays for tuition for credentials, certificates, and associate degrees with a specific career path or major and the exams leading to licensure or industry certification within that field. The MyCAA Scholarship does NOT pay for housing, travel, books, equipment, supplies, uniforms, computers, or electronic devices of any kind.
Who is not eligible for MyCAA?
Spouses who are:
- Married to service members in pay grades E-6 and above, W-3 and above, and O-3 and above, unless a spouse has an approved Education and Training Plan in place prior to their sponsor’s promotion above the eligible ranks.
- A member of the armed forces currently on Title 10 orders or are married but legally separated, or under court order or statute of any state or U.S. territory, from a member of the armed forces on Title 10 orders.
- National Guard or reserve military sponsor with warning orders/alert, post-deployment/demobilization, or transition status, or are unable to apply for financial assistance while their military sponsor is on Title 10 orders or before the sponsor’s date of separation.
