The Center for the Digital Arts Gallery of SUNY Westchester Peekskill will exhibit Kara Wilson’s work, Identity.
This exhibition features original limited-edition screenprints by Kara Wilson. Kara’s work considers identity through reconstructing archetypes specific to the individual. This abstract work is rooted in an underlying architecture constructed with layers of irregular shapes and symbols. Each element represents traits of a person, how someone could be seen anew through a dream-like lens.
Her visions are influenced by human nature’s inherent ability to qualify, identify, and label for its own needs. Perhaps we can also find comfort and familiarity through reordering. This body of work invites you to look for new connections between spaces and unfamiliar forms.
Kara Wilson is a Western Mass born visual artist, working primarily in screenprinting. She currently resides with her family in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Kara holds a B.S. in Studio Art and Art Education from Skidmore College, with concentrations in painting and graphic design. She also studied printmaking mediums, including woodblock printing and lithography, giving her a foundation for her self-taught screenprinting technique. Kara is a professional graphic designer and has been a creative director in the publishing field for over 20 years.
