The Marketing Club
The Marketing Club is the only club at Westchester Community College dedicated to developing leadership in internet based technologies for business. In the business world today, it’s not enough to just air a television commercial and expect to sell a product. Companies are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to present their products to consumers. And, we want to participate in the ever evolving world of new media. Be it blogging, texting, websites or podcasts, the Marketing Club is there and we’re ready to take on these new challenges. Whether you are a techie or a novice, please join this new club. You’ll find a group of students who are willing to take a lead role in a new world of business.
In Class
You will be taking a series of courses designed to build your working knowledge of marketing. As the program progresses you will be applying what you’ve learned. This means you’ll be doing the marketing. Here are some descriptions of the course work.
ADVERTISING
The first step is to understand how the big companies develop a major advertising campaign. The next step is for you to do it yourself. You will be encouraged to explore your creative side. For example, you’ll regularly be brainstorming with classmates on slogans, ad concepts and advertising strategy. But it doesn’t end there. You’ll need to figure out how to budget your advertising dollars across an array of media from television to the internet.
MANAGING THE MARKETING
Put on your business suit, meet your marketing team at the door and enter the boardroom. As part of a team of ‘student professionals’, you will develop a new product launch for a major company. Your team will be challenged with thinking through all the marketing and financial details required to successfully launch a new product. In addition to creating an innovative product, you’ll be devising a pricing strategy, identifying key retail stores and developing a communication strategy.
SELL, SELL, SELL
Maybe you didn’t think you had it in you – be we do. We will help you develop the skills and confidence required to be a corporate sales person. You will gain the techniques and skills required to present a company’s offerings in a professional setting. Learn how to team sell, how to develop persuasive presentations and how to analyze your clients.
