Additional Placement Services

Access questions to familiarize yourself with the ACCUPLACER basic content and experience.
The Testing and Assessment center offers placement testing using the Next-Generation ACCUPLACER Exams. These services include Challenge Exams, the Advance Algebra Functions Exam, and other programs requiring the ACCUPLACER.
If you are unsatisfied with your original Directed Self-Placement results, you may challenge the results by scheduling a placement test for that subject area. Challenge Exams are available for English, Math, and Reading placements. The results of your exam will determine your placement. Please note, you may not attempt a Challenge Exam in a subject area if you have already started a course in that curriculum. In addition, you may only challenge the results of a placement twice in the same academic term.
The Testing and Assessment Center also offers the Advance Algebra Functions (AAF) Exam. The AAF Exam is available for students wishing to place directly into a Precalculus or Calculus course. Unless you have a prescribed accommodation, you may not use a calculator during your math placement exam. However, certain questions will provide a virtual calculator that you may use. If you do not see one, it is not available.
Before scheduling your exam, we highly recommend that you speak with an Academic Counselor or a member of the mathematics department. Please see if you qualify for placement directly into Precalculus or Calculus by reviewing the waivers below.
If you have a documented disability, submitted documentation to the Disability Services Office (DSO) and require accommodations for the Ability to Benefit Exam, please contact the DSO at disability.services@sunywcc.edu.
