Accounting and Finance A.S.
The Accounting and Finance A.S. program provides seamless transfer opportunities to local colleges after which graduates find jobs in accounting firms, corporations, banks and small businesses. Many become Certified Public Accountants. Students receive the training needed to succeed in bachelor’s degree programs and in the meantime to work in entry-level positions and internships. Courses in accounting and business are combined with practical studies in federal income taxation, computerized accounting and more.
Addiction Counseling A.A.S.
The AAS in CDC provides all 350 Alcohol & Drug education hours required for CASAC eligibility and reduces the experience requirement by 1000 hours. Westchester Community College is a certified education & training provider of the NYS Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). OASAS issues the CASAC (Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor).

Art and Design A.S.
The Art and Design Associate in Science (A.S.) degree is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year undergraduate program. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in studio practice augmented by history and theory.
Business Management A.S.
The A.S. in Business Administration prepares students to enter and advance careers in the workforce. Management, Information Technology, Accounting, Business Law, and Marketing courses provide a strong background for employment, internships, and career advancement.

Business Technologies A.A.S.
These programs prepare students for careers in office systems administration, which would include positions such as administrative assistant, office manager, sales assistant, customer service representative and executive assistant. Graduates are employed in a wide variety of fields and types of organizations—international corporations, law firms, hospitals, schools, government offices and small companies.

Civil Technology A.A.S.
Students learn skills in construction methods and materials estimating, management, contracts, codes and specifications, highway theory and design, and properties of materials. This program can lead to employment as a technician in the field of civil engineering, architecture, and construction or working with architects, consulting engineers, surveyors, public works engineers, construction companies, materials testing labs, and engineering sales divisions.
Communications and Media Arts A.A.
Communication of all kinds – especially interpersonal, small group, and mass communication – forms the basis for all of our lives. The study of human communication provides a valuable foundation for any eventual path in school and life. This program provides human communication studies and opportunities for hands-on media production with modern digital equipment in class, through the college owned radio station, the award-winning student newspaper, and the on-campus television studio.
Community Health & Case Management Certificate
The Community Health and Case Management Certificate prepares students to work on the frontline in the fields of public health, health care and human services. Coursework is focused on the theoretical knowledge, ethical practices and core competencies needed to assist individuals and families in need of medical, mental health and social services.
Computer Aided Drafting Certificate
The Computer Aided Drafting certificate prepares students to work in a variety of settings, including industry, government, engineering and with architectural firms. Students train in modern CAD platforms using the latest equipment and software. Specialties include solid modeling and architectural design, along with general purpose computer drafting skills for engineering and architecture.
Computer Information Systems A.A.S.
This program provides a firm foundation in technology and its use in business areas. Computer Information Systems is the bridge between business problems and technological solutions. Topics of study include databases, networks, systems analysis, and security. Students will be prepared to enter the workforce after graduation or transfer to Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology programs at a four-year college.
Computer Programming Certificate
This program is designed to enable working professionals to develop their programming skills or make a career change. Recipients of this certificate will develop the critical thinking skills integral to computer programming, including problem analysis, solutions design, and program testing in various up-to-date programming languages.
Computer Science A.S.
The Computer Science A.S. program deals with the technical aspects of computing including the hardware components of the computer and the fundamental theories and algorithms of programming. The degree program prepares you for work on the cutting edge of technology. The curriculum is designed for students with any level of experience or previous knowledge.
Criminal Justice A.A.S.
The need for a college education in the field of criminal justice has grown dramatically. Agencies engaged in law enforcement, the judicial process, corrections, probation, and parole have recognized the value of a college education for their employees. Individuals completing these programs are prepared to enter many law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as private sector insurance and security technology companies.
Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management A.A.S.
Graduates of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program are prepared for employment in middle management positions such as assistants to: managers, supervisors of food production and service, event planners, caterers, stewards, banquet managers, rooms division managers, operations managers, purchasing agents, chefs, pastry chefs or bakers. With additional education and/or experience, upward mobility is unlimited.
Cybersecurity A.A.S.
Harness the principles of business security to break into the fields of information systems, information assurance, cyber-security, and digital forensics. The Cybersecurity programs cover computer information system basics as well as the latest practices for managing and identifying cyber-attacks on workstations, servers, and networks. The Digital Filmmaking A.S. prepares students to transfer to a four-year B.A. or B.F.A. program. The Digital Filmmaking curriculum prepares students to take advantage of opportunities in a rapidly-evolving, multi-disciplinary field by providing foundational knowledge in four key areas: film studies, cinematic storytelling, video production, and post-production.
Digital Filmmaking Certificate
The Digital Filmmaking Certificate prepares students for an entry-level position in a film-related career. The Digital Filmmaking curriculum prepares students to take advantage of opportunities in a rapidly-evolving, multi-disciplinary field by providing foundational knowledge in four key areas: film studies, cinematic storytelling, video production, and post-production.
Digital Media Certificate
The Digital Media Certificate is a concentrated course of study designed for students interested in developing professional competence in the field of digital art. Classes provide a strong foundation in studio practice, including an introduction to basic software skills, as well as history and theory. The Mentored Portfolio course focuses on portfolio development and career preparation.
Early Childhood A.A.S.
The Early Childhood program is designed to prepare students for careers in a variety of settings working with children birth to age eight. Knowledge of children through observation, description, and reflection as well as current research in the field is the basis for coming to a deeper understanding of the values that underlie students’ work with children. Students are supported in translating theory into practice through supervised internships alongside class seminars.

Electrical Technology A.A.S.
The Electrical Technology program emphasizes a multi-disciplinary approach to power utilities, electronics in health care, computers, automotive control, robotics, and allied fields. Students will dive into solid state materials, semiconductor devices, microprocessors, robotics, analog and digital communication, electrical machines, fiber optics, lasers, operational amplifiers, circuit design, energy conversion, computer aided design, and more with theoretical and hands-on exercises.
Energy Systems A.A.S.
This program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in energy generation, transmission, and distribution. The curriculum was developed in conjunction with the New York Power Authority, Entergy, and the Consolidated Edison Company to answer a critical need for trained technicians in the region. Students will acquire the background and skills required for a technical career in the fields of gas, fossil, nuclear, and hydro-electric power, as well as the communication, math, and science skills that employers seek.
Engineering Science A.S.
Interested in what’s widely considered a future-proof, high-paying, and in-demand career? This program integrates science and mathematics with design and laboratory studies that parallel the first two years of the four-year engineering curriculum of most engineering schools throughout the country. As a student in one of these programs you will learn the fundamental concepts of calculus, chemistry, physics, electricity, energy, engineering mechanics, and computer science.

Fashion Design & Technology A.A.S.
The Fashion Design & Technology program enables students to understand how apparel is produced for various markets considering creative, technical, and cost factors. Graduates are prepared for work as junior patternmakers; design assistants; technical design, and more. You will develop skills in textiles, draping and flat pattern making, garment construction, apparel design, and other skills used in the design fields from apparel manufacturing to home products.
Fashion Merchandising A.A.S.
Love style, have an interest in merchandising, or a desire to work in textiles and fashion marketing? The dynamic, creative, and challenging world of fashion has a variety of career opportunities. The Fashion Merchandising program combines fashion studies with business courses to prepare students for positions in resident buying offices, fashion manufacturers, designer showrooms, retail stores, fashion publications, and other firms associated with the fashion industry.
Foods and Nutrition A.S.
The growing public interest in nutrition has greatly expanded job opportunities in the field of foods, nutrition, and dietetics. Nutrition professionals, Certified Dietary Managers, and Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists are employed in a variety of healthcare facilities, school systems and as consultants. Foods and Nutrition combines the basics of nutrition care with science and liberal arts courses that will prepare you for transfer and eligibility for the ANFP Certified Dietary Manager credential exam.
Health and Human Performance A.S.
Interested in the fields of health, fitness, and wellness? The Health and Human Performance program builds a strong foundation for students interested in transferring to a four-year college with related degree programs including: Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Movement Science, Physical Education Instruction, Sports Studies, and more.
Health Information Technology A.A.S.
Learn to record, integrate, and report patient data securely through classroom and practical experiences with specialized computer applications. The Health Information Technology A.A.S. prepares you to manage patient data in a diverse range of health care settings. Certificates in Medical Coding and Medical Billing may be applied toward the A.A.S. in Health Information Technology. The Medical Billing Certificate leads to credentialing as a Certified Professional Biller. The Medical Coding Certificate prepares you for certification exams.
Health Studies A.S.
This program introduces students to broad range of healthcare issues to help prepare them for transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in healthcare or a wide selection of health related careers. The multidisciplinary design of the program permits students to take courses in a variety of health-related disciplines such as nutrition, health education, first aid/safety, and anatomy and physiology.
Human Services A.S.
Human Services focuses on meeting the needs of individuals, families, and groups through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of social issues, while maintaining a commitment to human rights and social justice. Completing the A.A.S. will prepare students to enter social work or related fields. The A.S. program prepares students to transfer to a four-year program of study. The Community Health and Case Management Certificate is especially useful for those employed in the human services who wish to upgrade their skills and marketability.
Interactive Technologies A.A.S – Computer Animation and Game Design
The A.A.S. in Interactive Technologies (ITECH) Computer Animation and Game Design Track is designed for digital media students to complement their 2D/3D designs, illustration, animation, digital media and/or computer programming studies. The program is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students for New Media careers. Students choose one concentration out of three: Digital Marketing, Web Design/Development (UX/UI), and Computer Animation and Game Design. The curriculum is designed for students who seek either an entry-level position of employment or transfer to a four-year institution. The program also serves recent graduates and professionals who want to enhance their skills utilizing creative emerging technologies.

Journalism A.S.
Learn hands-on journalistic skills in our Communications & Journalism Innovation Labs, TV studio, radio station and campus newspaper. Graduates transfer with a solid background in journalistic excellence and practical experience in news-gathering, writing, reporting, editing, photography, documentary video, social media, radio/TV announcing and broadcast production. We offer internships, scholarships and a yearly Pulitzer Center International Student Reporting Fellowship.
Justice Studies A.S.
This program is designed both for students interested in deepening their understanding and practice of criminal justice in America, as well as for direct transfer to four-year degree programs in Criminal Justice and related disciplines.

The Liberal Art and Sciences: Humanities degree allows students to explore their interests within the humanities while allowing them a great deal of flexibility in choosing their coursework in other academic areas.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Humanities A.A. – Studio Art
Humanities is the broadest of the academic disciplines because it is concerned with the whole spectrum of one's social, intellectual, artistic, and spiritual history. Humanities study reflects many aspects of human aspiration and achievement. Academic subjects commonly included in humanities are literature, modern languages, philosophy and the arts. The Liberal Art and Sciences: Humanities degree with a concentration in Art Studio allows students to explore their interests through flexible General Education coursework in other academic areas, while encouraging them to study art history and providing them a solid foundation of conceptual and technical skills that will allow the student to proceed to a four-year institution.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Humanities A.A. – English
Westchester Community College’s English Department offers a variety of writing and literature courses. Writing course options range from remedial courses that effectively prepare students for the challenges of college writing to an advanced program of study that allows students to develop their own writing projects in a workshop-style forum. The appealingly broad selection of literature courses offers something for everyone with course titles like African American Literature, Women in Literature, Perceptions of the Holocaust, Literature of the Americas, Modern American Poetry, and much more.

The Liberal Arts & Sciences/Mathematics and Science (LAMS) program leads to the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree. This program, with an emphasis in majors-level mathematics and natural sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, and physics), allows the student to parallel the first two years of course content for the degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in these disciplines. Qualified graduates of this program most often continue their studies at four-year colleges and universities in baccalaureate programs in mathematics and the natural sciences, or further their education towards a one of a number of allied health professions whose competitive admission requirements require coursework in mathematics and/or natural science at the majors-level, such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, physician's assistant, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs.

This program emphasizes majors-level mathematics and natural sciences to parallel the first two years of study in bachelor’s degrees in these disciplines. Graduates often continue their studies in baccalaureate programs in mathematics and the natural sciences or in allied health paths whose competitive admission requirements require coursework in mathematics and/or natural science at the majors-level, such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, physician’s assistant, and nursing programs.

Students enrolled in this program complete a sequence of honors biology courses while exploring elective coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Intended as transfer program, the curriculum aligns with the first two years of most baccalaureate programs in math and science allowing graduates to complete a bachelor's degree with an additional two years of full-time study. The program provides an exceptional starting point for students aspiring to careers in teaching math or science, pursuing degrees in medical fields, or venturing into academic or industry research.

Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences A.A. – Anthropology
“The purpose of anthropology is to make the world safe for human differences.” – Ruth Benedict The field of anthropology maintains that humans have a complex relationship with both their natural and cultural worlds. In order to appreciate this and develop an understanding of the various ways of being human, anthropologists employ a holistic approach to their investigations, requiring an understanding of a people’s past as well as their present as they negotiate their way to the future.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences A.A. – Economics
In the face of scarcity and unlimited desires, how do we as a society make resource allocation decisions? What do we produce? How do we manage production? Who benefits from the goods and services produced? Human beings have developed various methods and systems to answer these questions. Economics analyzes the methods used by society – individuals, households, firms, governments – to make these resource allocation decisions.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences A.A. – Honors Concentration

Liberal Arts and Sciences/Humanities A.A. – History
Humanities is the broadest of the academic disciplines because it is concerned with the whole spectrum of one's social, intellectual, artistic, and spiritual history. Humanities study reflects many aspects of human aspiration and achievement. Academic subjects commonly included in humanities are literature, modern languages, philosophy and the arts.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences A.A. – Psychology
A common definition of Psychology often found in textbooks goes something like this… “Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior.” However, as Paul Valery points out, Psychology is essentially the study of events, situations, and phenomena (relating to the mind and behavior) that may seem quite familiar since people experience many of them on a regular basis. However, the difference between everyday experiences and Psychology is this: Psychology uses scientific principles and the scientific method to learn about these events, situations, and phenomena.
Liberal Arts and Sciences/Social Sciences A.A. – Sociology
Sociology is the study of people in society, and is used to analyze how social institutions and constructions influence individuals’ lives and group interactions. Sociology examines how the unequal distribution of power impacts the organization of the social world and how individuals experience and are treated in it as they navigate their lives in different social, cultural, economic, and political contexts. As a social science, sociology utilizes various theories and methods to collect empirical data to study patterns that arise in social worlds. Major sub-fields of sociology focus on social issues related to inequalities of race and ethnicity, gender, and social class.
Marketing A.S.
Marketing students experience hands-on class projects such as new product launches, sales presentations, and advertising media plans. Specialized courses in consumer behavior, advertising, professional selling and digital marketing are taught by outstanding marketing faculty, bringing real world expertise using state-of-the-art business software. The curriculum offers Marketing students opportunities to build professional networks and make lasting valuable friendships with leaders in marketing to increase job and transfer placement.
Mechanical Technology A.A.S.
A state-of-the-art Computer Aided Design (CAD) lab and fully equipped mechanical laboratory (mechanical and computerized) permit the students to combine both the theoretical and practical aspects of the design as well as the manufacturing of a product. Interpret engineering drawings, design parts, analyze designs, construct parts through 3D printing and CNC technology, and learn other aspects of the manufacturing process.
Medical Billing Certificate
Learn to record, integrate, and report patient data securely through classroom and practical experiences with specialized computer applications. The Health Information Technology A.A.S. prepares you to manage patient data in a diverse range of health care settings. Certificates in Medical Coding and Medical Billing may be applied toward the A.A.S. in Health Information Technology. The Medical Billing Certificate leads to credentialing as a Certified Professional Biller. The Medical Coding Certificate prepares you for certification exams.

Networking A.A.S.
These programs teach the information and communication technology (ICT) skills required to design, install, and manage networks. Students learn networking based on technology, covering networking concepts from network applications to the network protocols and services. Upon completion of certain courses, students are prepared to take industry standard certifications including Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and more.
Nursing A.A.S.
The associate nursing program at Westchester Community College has been granted initial accreditation by the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The effective date for initial accreditation of the associate nursing program is May 24, 2017 with the next evaluation visit scheduled for Spring 2025.
Paralegal A.A.S.
The Paralegal Program provides graduates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform competently as paralegals in law-related occupations under the supervision of an attorney. Paralegals work in all phases of practice except providing legal advice to clients, appearing in court, and setting fees. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.

Performing Arts A.S.
Students may select an emphasis in Dance, Drama(including Acting and Musical Theatre), or Music(including Instrumental Performance, Vocal Performance, and Music Technology). Many of our graduates find employment in the film and theatre industries as well as in numerous other performing arts-related professions. Graduates successfully transfer their credits to continue their studies at four-year institutions and earn degrees in drama, music, or dance.
Personal Training Certificate
Personal Trainers are fitness professionals who educate clients of all ages in multiple aspects of fitness and wellness. They work in settings such as public and private fitness centers, schools, adult centers and corporate wellness programs. Graduates of this program will be qualified to work as personal trainers or fitness instructors, and subsequently, may sit for the certification exam through the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF).
Radiologic Technology A.A.S.
Imaging technology is advancing fast, which puts radiologic technologists at the front and center of innovation. As the population grows and ages, demand for diagnostic imaging is projected to increase. Upon completion of the program, students are can sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination. When the examination is passed, the graduate will be granted a license issued by NYSDOH to practice Radiography.
Respiratory Care A.A.S.
Respiratory care is vital in life saving and life support situations. Respiratory therapists are involved in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. These patients may be in newborn nurseries, surgical and medical units, emergency rooms, intensive care units, extended care facilities, and homes. Students will get handson experience with patients at local hospitals.
Teaching Assistant Certificate
The Teaching Assistant certificate provides you with the foundation to work as a teaching assistant in public and private schools. Teaching assistants work in the classroom to provide direct instructional support to students under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
Veterinary Technology A.A.S.
Veterinary technology is the art and science of using an understanding of basic animal science, biological testing, and animal behavior to assist the veterinarian in the care of animals. The program prepares graduates to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), and seek employment in animal/veterinary-related fields. In the state of New York, individuals who complete a Veterinary Technology Program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), achieve a passing grade on the VTNE and are of good moral standing are eligible to apply for licensure.
Web Development Certificate
Do you dream of designing and developing interactive and dynamic websites? This hands-on certificate program is designed to teach students the principles and mechanics underlying the design development of websites. Students receive practical training and will be prepared to design and develop websites utilizing the latest software development languages and tools.
