76th Annual Student Leader Recognition Ceremony
The 76th Annual Student Leader Recognition Ceremony honors student leaders, who are some of the most passionate, responsible, and dedicated individuals at SUNY Westchester Community College.
We also celebrate faculty, staff, and administrators for their guidance, support, and their service as advisors to the many clubs and organizations. Together they have made significant contributions to student life and the rest of the college community. The following awards presented are to recognize their accomplishments and contributions.
SUNY Chancellor’s Award
The SUNY Chancellor’s Award is the highest honor a student can receive from the State University of New York. It recognizes students for their outstanding achievements in academics, campus involvement, leadership, career achievement, athletics, and community service. The award is given to less than one-half of one percent of students in the State University system.

Excellence in Student Involvement Award
The Student Involvement Award honors a student who is passionate about being involved on campus, and who has left an indelible mark on our campus and our community.

Vera Delgrosso Student Leadership Award
The Vera Delgrosso Student Leadership Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated tremendous personal and professional growth from their involvement in the co-curriculum while maintaining a positive attitude in light of great challenges. Academic achievement and outstanding service to the college are also exemplified by this student.

Carolina Martins Soares de Oliveira
Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Department of Student Involvement’s Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was created to honor Westchester Community College’s student champions of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This award acknowledges their efforts in supporting WCC’s mission of fostering an intentionally inclusive campus culture that celebrates and respects the diversity of the community while acknowledging the differences among individual lived experiences. The award recipient has promoted equity, disseminated knowledge, and taken visible actions to help remove barriers that adversely affect individuals from marginalized communities. Additionally, this person has demonstrated a clear and evident dedication to the advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusivity among their fellow students and WCC community members.

This award is named after a former Office Assistant in the Department of Student Involvement – Susan Hoffman. Award receipts offer value support, assistance, and guidance to the student community of the College. These awards are selected by the Student Government Association (SGA).

This award is selected by the Student Government Association, which recognizes a Club event for providing the student body with a dynamic, engaging, and meaningful program.

2023 – 2024 Outstanding Club Officer of the Year
This award is selected by the Student Government Association, which recognizes a Club Officer. Who has demonstrated leadership and guidance for the club, a cooperative and positive attitude, support for club members, and a dedication to improve student life.

2023 – 2024 Club of the Year
This award is selected by the Student Government Association, which recognizes a Student-run Club for having an active membership, adhering to the club mission, and providing a dynamic and meaningful involvement opportunity for students. This year, two clubs were awarded this honor.

Community Wellness
Club Advisor of the Year
The Donald Weigand Advisor of the Year award is named after a former WCC Vice President and Dean of Students who spent decades serving as a club advisor and student advocate.
This award is selected by the Student Government Association, which recognizes faculty/staff/administrators for providing consistent support to club members, empowering student officers to take ownership over their organization, and creating co-curricular environments that foster student learning and success.

Key Award
The Key Awards are presented to students who have made consistent and outstanding contributions to the college community. The efforts of these individuals have positively impacted areas of student life and the educational environment of the campus. Recipients exemplify characteristics of leadership, service, and an earnest desire to learn and grow from their involvement experiences in the co-curriculum. Up to eight students can be presented the award each year.
