Prof Collis began his teaching career in 2001, teaching high school chemistry and biology in Queens, NY. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he was a lecture and lab instructor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He then returned to New York in 2006 as an Instructor in the Biology Department of Westchester Community College.Besides teaching, Prof Collis is interested in environmental issues and took part in the Focus the Nation events to raise awareness of climate change. He is also the co-advisor for the WCC Medical Science Club and a member of the Student Personnel Policies Committee.Outside of school, Prof. Collis enjoys playing volleyball competitively, having done so for many years. He also especially enjoys traveling with his partner, William, and they have together visited 20+ countries. With their dog, Rufus, they currently live in an apartment in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan.
