Julie holds a Doctorate and Masters in Anthropology from University of California, Davis, and a BA in Anthropology from Rutgers University. Her specialty is biological anthropology, with a focus on primatology. Her dissertation research on primate stress, temperament, and social instability has been published in the American Journal of Primatology and Primates. She also has research experience in primate socioecology and conversation analysis. Julie won the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award at the University of California, Davis, in 2017. Since then, she has taught in California, Utah, and New York, exploring facets of anthropology such as primate ecology, linguistic anthropology, and the evolution of human lifecycles.
