Humanities Institute
Description
The Westchester Community College Humanities Institute is a natural and logical extension of the College’s intellectual commitment to immigrant education. The humanities include many forms of artistic expression, intellectual inquiry, and ordinary life through which people explore the meanings and challenges of human experience. Moreover, they offer a framework for current debates about nationality, individuality, citizenship, borders, inclusivity, social justice, and cultural identity.
Offerings
Throughout the academic year, the Westchester Community College Humanities Institute offers humanities programming in literature, film, history, philosophy, and more, featuring lectures, discussions, poetry workshops, film screenings, performances, and author readings, as well as opportunities for professional development.
All events are free and open to the public.
