Strategic Operations
Westchester Community College’s ongoing development as a high-performing institution has led to more sophisticated use of systems thinking, process improvement, knowledge management, and data utilization. In 2019, President Belinda S. Miles created a new unit to accelerate the college’s momentum toward higher performance and build capacity in executing the college’s strategic initiatives. Strategic Operations promotes development through collaborative, cross-functional teams that bring together people, technology, and ideas to achieve peak operational performance and improve student success outcomes. The unit is a resource to help translate strategic vision into actionable initiatives and execution plans. Led by the Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategic Operations, the unit consists of the following offices:
- Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness, which is a major driver for data utilization strategies, supports academic assessment, and manages compliance reporting. IR provides student success data for engaging across units to build capacity for obtaining and utilizing resources to achieve student success outcomes.
- Process Strategy and Excellence, which has a key role in reviewing college policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness and provides support for program review, general education assessment, and institutional effectiveness.
- College facility rentals and reservations.
