June 14, 2019
This week’s article examines the impact of undergraduate research at community colleges. Teaching and learning is our core business, and high impact practices such as project-based learning are showing great promise. Undergraduate research has been a staple at Westchester Community College with students regularly participating in the annual Beacon Conference, the National Institute of Health (NIH) Bridges to the Sciences program, the National Science Foundation (NSF) Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation program, and the new Stem Scholars summer research initiative at Mercy College, among others. Here’s further information about how community college students are benefiting from undergraduate research opportunities.
