Colleagues,
We are in a strong position to participate in public discourse on Federal Work-Study based upon the range of thoughtful responses generated from last week’s article. Thanks to those who shared comments.
This week’s article on community colleges doing more to achieve student success with fewer resources reflects the current state of higher education. At Westchester Community College, our resources are derived mostly from tuition (including those in the form of federal Pell and NYS TAP grants) as well as state and county sponsor support. When our enrollment fluctuates, we must adapt to find creative ways to grow, innovate, and fulfill our mission and commitment to student success. Together, as responsible stewards, we have successfully brought additional resources to the College via programs and initiatives like Guided Pathways and Viking ROADS that are helping us build capacity to form a seamless approach to keep students enrolled and on the path toward completion.
