Between River and Sound, A Learning Community
Between River and Sound Learning Community is a professional learning community of colleagues and co-workers who discuss readings and ideas and develop personal sustainability projects related to individual work at the college. Individual projects have the goal of making environmental sustainability a central basis for management, planning, and learning at Westchester Community College.
Combined, our participants’ individual projects are transforming classrooms, offices, policies, and procedures—in short, the culture of Westchester Community College. Projects have been as wide-ranging as the participants: an engineering curriculum on sustainable construction materials, an extensive library research guide on sustainability, an accounting case study on corporate sustainability audits, a planned sustainability film series, a course about literature and the environment, a plan to go paperless for cultural-event ticketing.
