From Hunter-Gatherers to Farmers, Native Americans in the Eastern Woodlands Examine Native American cultures and adaptations over the past 14,000 years. A changing climate, the end of the last ice age and population movements resulted in the development of many prehistoric cultures and diverse ways of life. Native American continuous occupation on the land is readily apparent through the archaeological record. Populations grew and declined, trade and ritual activity became more complex, and relationships to the land changed. Offered at The Shames JCC on the Hudson, 371 South Broadway, Tarrytown. Advance registration on-line at www.shamesjcc.org or by calling 914-366-7898. Fee: $5 per person 4 Fri., Feb. 7-28, 10:30 am-12:30 pm. E Boesch. *Funding for this seminar is provided through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Aging: NYS Office for the Aging and Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.
