State of the College / Foundation Annual Report
ALUMNI With an enhanced focus on building alumni connections during the Foundation’s anniversary year, the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Alumni Council offered an enhanced complement of events and programs to provide social and educational avenues for alumni to connect back to the college. Partnerships across campus have been a key to success. Networking programs with Cybersecurity, Paralegal, Accounting and Bright Futures programs brought alumni together to share ideas, contacts, and experiences. Through volunteer efforts, alumni packaged meals for student families on Thanksgiving, guided prospective students through the college’s Open House, and assisted with the Career Expo. The office changed up some old favorites, too. The annual holiday party was moved to March in hopes of better weather, while the Financial Education Day ex- panded into a series of events focused on various topics throughout the year. Our Golden Alumni returned to campus for the fall luncheon and in the spring when we welcomed the newest members, the Class of 1969, and honored the classes of ’64, ’59, & ’54. The Alumni Office made sure to have even more fun along the way. Teaming up with the athletics programs, we hosted Homecoming in the fall, held a spring barbecue, and introduced a sold-out audience to the sport of curling. In the College Connections program, recent graduates joined us in August before starting at their four-year institutions, connecting with other Westchester Community College alumni already attending those schools. A newly designed website/online community ( www.mysunywcc.org ) helped record numbers of alumni to engage with the college. Through volunteer efforts, alumni packaged meals for student families on Thanksgiving, guided prospective students through the college’s Open House, and assisted with the Career Expo. Left top to bottom: The Alumni Association hosted its annual meeting with a Spring Fling event in March. Catherine McKenna and Paul Trapp, graduates of the class of 1969, flew in from Scottsdale, AZ to celebrate their 50th reunion with classmates. WCC Alumni came out to learn and play at the Ardsley Curling Club www.sunywcc.edu 28 2020 State of the College & Foundation Annual Report 29
