CFEE Guidebook

3 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The Center for Financial and Economic Education is deeply grateful to JPMorgan Chase & Co. for its generous support of the Money Smart Forum financial coaching program and its longstanding commitment to help students build financial capability at Westchester Community College. In particular, we thank Jeanique Druses for her guidance, support, and encouragement of our coaching work and our efforts to document best practices in this Guide. We greatly appreciate the dedication and tireless efforts made on our behalf by the Center for Financial and Economic Education’s Advisory Committee members:  ` CAROLYN J. CHRISTESEN, Department Chair and Professor of Accounting  ` VIRGINIA FALCONE, Director, TRIO  ` JEANNE MALONEY, Former Assistant Dean, Workforce Development and Community Education  ` ROBERT NECHOLS, Director, English Language Institute  ` RITA SAMET-SLAVIN, Adjunct Counselor and Former Director, TRIO  ` JUDITH CHAN, Adjunct Instructor, Business Faculty Because of the strong support and collaboration of this advisory team, we were able to start up the Center for Financial and Economic Education as a new concept in 2011 and expand its reach to more than 4,000 students over an eight- year period. We know that this program has helped students not only to turn around their financial lives, but also to enable success in their academic studies. We have also been assisted since our inception by Teresita B. Wisell, Westchester Community College’s Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Education. We appreciate her significant contributions to the program. Importantly, we want to acknowledge the incredible work of our financial coaches, Yolanda Candelario and Marisa DiBenigno. Without their dedication and perseverance, we could not have achieved a record of consistently improved student outcomes over a period of five years. They care deeply about helping students improve their financial lives. They are not only coaches; they are passionate advocates for the hundreds of students who benefited from the Money Smart Forum coaching program.
