BUSINESS & FINANCIAL EDUCATION IN-PERSON Understanding your Financials This program helps business owners create a strong financial plan to drive success, set and achieve goals, and cover areas like banking, cash flow management, and succession planning. At SUNY Westchester Valhalla: CE-FIN 2090, will take place in Fall 2025. CAREER & WORKFORCE TRAINING IN-PERSON Introduction to Cannabis Entrepreneurship This course will give budding entrepreneurs an understanding of the cannabis industry landscape, including the history and legalization of cannabis, opportunities, and challenges. Entrepreneurs interested in exploring potential startup ideas within this industry will learn how to navigate cannabis regulations and compliance (local, state, and federal regulations). You will learn about licensing and permit requirements, legal and ethical considerations, and regulatory requirements for starting a cannabis-related business. This class will also cover cannabis product development and quality control, including exploring various cannabis products and their uses, and testing and safety processes. IN-PERSON Launch a Business through Business Modeling & Thinking like an Entrepreneur In this introductory course, aspiring entrepreneurs will gain valuable insights into the essential steps required to successfully launch a small business and thrive as an entrepreneur. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, including market research and competitive analysis, to understand the needs they aim to address, assess market size within their industry, and define their target audience. The course will also delve into competitor analysis and help identify the competitive advantage unique to your business. A central focus of this program will be the development of a comprehensive business plan, encompassing a startup budget, strategies for securing business funding, and a thorough evaluation of the pros and cons associated with purchasing an existing business or a franchise.
