Weddings on Film: A Multinational Perspective Wedding films enjoy popular appeal around the world. The hero in these stories (usually a woman) holds center stage in a drama about romance, relationships, responsibility and sometimes politics. In Session One, we’ll be looking at American varieties of the genre over time. In Session Two, we will extend our exploration to examples from India, China, Africa, and the Middle East to understand how the marriage rituals in these lands reflect both local customs and universal ideals of matrimony.
