Economics
In the face of scarcity and unlimited desires, how do we as a society make resource allocation decisions? What do we produce? How do we manage production? Who benefits from the goods and services produced? Human beings have developed various methods and systems to answer these questions. Economics analyzes the methods used by society – individuals, households, firms, governments – to make these resource allocation decisions.
In economics courses students will investigate, evaluate and understand the global economic forces that shape our lives. Regardless of curriculum, students will benefit from exposure to economic ideas and topics and enhance their critical thinking skills. Analysis of public policy issues will benefit them as voting citizens.
A background in economics can be valuable in a variety of professions in fields as diverse as business, law, government, education, environment and community work.
