Orientation Leader Testimonials
Here is what a past member Orientation Leader Program had to say about this experience:
“I got involved in the Orientation Leader program after my first year at WCC. I was minimally involved on campus during that first year but joining the OL program completely transformed my WCC experience. It served as a way for me to not only learn more about the school myself, but help new students, and also establish connections throughout the campus community to get involved in other organizations such as WEB and SGA. The staff that works in Student Involvement and coordinates the entire orientation process and the OL program are truly some of the best professionals I have ever worked with. With their help, I have been able to develop my interpersonal and leadership skills to get to where I am today. The OL program helped connect me with so many amazing people that I still stay in contact with to this day. I recommend it to all students who are looking to get involved on campus.” – Bryan G. 2019 Orientation Leader
“The experience was beyond amazing and I’m glad I was a part of it!” – Junay B. 2020 Orientation Leader.
“The orientation leader program really opened me up to everything WCC had to offer like the student involvement organizations, the library’s services, and student support services. It allowed me to make connections with my fellow WCC students and make long last friendships! It also helped with my development and was a part of my journey to get my full tuition scholarship to pace university. I also had the pleasure of being an orientation leader coordinator which was my first internship ever and it really helped develop my leadership skills. I think the orientation leader program is amazing and should defiantly be something to be a part of because of the number of opportunities and connections you can make which can help you achieve the goals you have here at WCC.” – Rene T. 2020 Orientation Leader.
“I initially got involved hoping to learn about on-campus job opportunities and scholarships I could apply to. In the process of becoming an Ol, I not only made friends but found my people, I learned a lot about who I am. The orientation leader program helped me connect deeply with myself, and helped me appreciate my uniqueness and my culture. Not only that, but the Ol experience also showed me that I have values and skills I can bring to the table, it showed me I matter and my voice matters. It was one of the most meaningful experiences I had in my entire life. The advisors, the program, the student, and WCC in itself, really showed the power of diversity and inclusion. I am proudly a former Ol and will forever remember my experience and how the people within my OL group made me feel! I am truly grateful for my experience, and I really hope more students get to find their voices and be empowered by their experiences at WCC.” – Maiara R. 2021 Orientation Leader.
“Being part of the OL program has taught me how to be open-minded to people that are different than myself. I learned a lot from the whole OL team, and I met people that made the whole experience super fun; now I call them friends. Being an OL gave me the opportunity to help new students connect with one another and guide them on how to seek help in the college community when needed, and how to take advantage of all the resources WCC offers. The OL program is one of the best memories I will have from my time at WCC.” – Laís B. 2022 Orientation Leader.
