It’s Okay to Not Be Okay Day, September 2020
The goal of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay Day was to set the tone for a semester of honest conversation and transparency within the WCC community around mental health issues while simultaneously normalizing reaching out for support.
Across multiple media platforms, we hosted live conversations on topics including Men’s mental health, stigma, self-care, and BIPOC mental health. Mindfulness tips, meditation exercises, and posts on resources were also shared throughout the day.
The response, community engagement, and feedback from students, faculty, staff was inspiring. The JED Foundation immediately reached out praising this creative mental health campaign.
The day concluded with a Student Mental Health Check-in Lounge where WCC students bravely opened up about their emotional experiences and plans for coping going forward. What a success!
