Sophia & Joseph Abeles Gateway Scholarship

These scholarships were established to honor the contributions of Sophia Abeles, former WCC Foundation board member, and her husband Joseph. Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to students of academic merit and educational fortitude, who demonstrate financial need.

Alan & Jackie Stuart Scholarship

The Alan & Jacqueline Stuart Scholarship provides opportunity for hardworking students who demonstrate exceptional fortitude despite financial need. Preference will be given to students who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree.

Alpha Group Scholarship

In honor of Dr. Hankin’s 25th anniversary as president, the Alpha Group, an organization of chief executive officers, established a scholarship to support a student who has excelled in a business-related curriculum.

WCC Foundation Alumni Scholarship

These awards, established through alumni contributions, are presented to outstanding students who have demonstrated financial need, and who utilize the college’s many resources.

Gary A. Anderson Family Scholarship

Created in honor of alumnus Gary Anderson, '72. Awards are given to students in the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering with a preference for engineering.

Angelo Delgrosso Alumni Scholarship

Established by WCC alum Doug Birdsall in honor of the college’s retired Dean of Students, these alumnus awards recognize students who have demonstrated academic achievement while making contributions to the enrichment of the student experience through participation in extracurricular activity.

N. Anne McKiernan Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships were established in honor of a dedicated nurse and administrator of the Westchester Medical Center. They are presented to female students in their second-year in the Nursing program.

Arthur & Rebecca Samberg Scholarship

Awards of varying amounts are presented to outstanding continuing students who demonstrate financial need.

Arthur Hackett Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships honor the distinguished career of this well-loved Professor Emeritus and former foundation board member, who shared his passion for engineering with thousands of students at WCC until his retirement in 1987. Awards are made to continuing students majoring in engineering science or engineering technologies.

AWAH Second Chance Award Scholarship

In keeping with its mission to empower women and girls of African ancestry, American Women of African Heritage, Inc. provides this annual scholarship to a female student of color who is returning to college after a break in her schooling.

The Axel Family Scholarship

A number of scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to students who exhibit both merit and need.

Barnes & Noble Scholarship

To celebrate the new partnership with Westchester Community College’s bookstore and its commitment to student success, Barnes & Noble has created this scholarship for students with academic promise who demonstrate financial need.

Beverly Jordan AAUW Scholarship

Created by the Estate of Beverly Jordan and AAUW’s Westchester Branch, this scholarship is awarded to a female high school graduate pursuing a science and/or math-related degree.

Carol & Dorland Russett Scholarship

Awarded to women who are either graduating from Westchester Community College or are returning to continue their education at the college to assist them in achieving their full potential as professionals. The award remembers Sr. Russett and her forty-one years at the college as a student, staff member, professor, and administrator

Charlene C. Kahn & Family Scholarships

Awarded to students who display academic excellence and need. Preference is given to female students pursuing degrees in early childhood education or economics.

Charles H Dyson Scholarship

Presented to a part-time student who demonstrates academic merit and financial need.

Charles W. Brown Memorial Scholarships

These awards were created to honor the memory of this influential Westchester businessman who was a leader, mentor, and friend to many. A proud Westchester Community College graduate and former WCC Foundation Board member, he was passionate about providing opportunities for WCC students. This scholarship is awarded to a student of exceptional merit who demonstrates commitment to the college community and has financial need. Preference will be given to students majoring in business.

Robert P. & Christine Beshar Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships honor the life of this erudite and dedicated WCC Foundation Board member. With over twenty years of service to the College, Bob was an advisor, a supporter, and a friend. His profound understanding of the value of education, commitment to higher learning, and respect for hard work is reflected in the success of our students. These scholarships are awarded to high-achieving, continuing students who are in need of financial assistance to complete their studies.

Christopher M. Hickey Scholarship

Created by alumnus Christopher Hickey, class of 2000, to give back so that other students can reach their potential. This scholarship is awarded to students studying in the school of Mathematics, Science and Engineering. Preference will be given to students majoring in biology. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Con Edison Bright Futures Scholarship

These awards provide scholarship support for underrepresented undergraduate students who major in the field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

CTE Future Scholarship

The CTE Future Scholarship was established to enable students to obtain a degree or certificate that will prepare them with the knowledge and training to succeed in future careers. Preference will be given to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education degree plans with a GPA of 3.0 and above.

Joseph & Joan Cullman Foundation Scholarship

These awards are presented to second-year students in the visual or performing arts, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and financial need.

David Swope Endowed Scholarship

This award was endowed by friends and family of this beloved Foundation Board member and College Trustee. A prominent Westchester environmentalist, philanthropist, community leader and business owner, David touched hundreds of thousands of lives in Westchester County and beyond. This scholarship will encourage and support talented students, as future leaders, in their pursuit of education. Awards will be given to students who display academic potential, community service, and financial need. Preference will be given to students from Ossining.

Dr. Belinda S. Miles Access to Opportunity Scholarship

Established by family, friends, and colleagues in honor of the inauguration of WCC’s third president, this scholarship is awarded to a highly motivated full time student who demonstrates academic potential and financial need, agrees to take at least 15 credits a semester, and intends to gradate within three years. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a strong GPA and continues to take a full course load.

Dr. Chung-Sing Cheng & Pai-Lien Hsu Cheng Memorial Scholarship

These scholarships honor loving parents who helped their families escape from communist China and are awarded to foreign-born students who demonstrate academic excellence and need. Preference is given to students of Southeast Asian descent.

Dr. Daniel and Myrna Clyman Scholarship

Dr. Daniel Clyman Memorial Scholarship Established in memory of this caring physician who provided consummate skill and devotion to his patients, this award is given to a student demonstrating academic achievement who is matriculating in a degree or certificate program and has financial need. Candidates who are first generation college students, immigrants, and/or students with disabilities will be given preference.

Dr. Joseph N. Hankin 40th Anniversary Scholarship

This scholarship fund was established in October 2011 to honor Dr. Joseph N. Hankin on his 40th anniversary as president of WCC, and to celebrate his tenure as the longest-serving community college president in the nation. These awards seek to increase access to education for new and/or continuing students from diverse backgrounds who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and service to the college and/or their community.

Shirley Durst Scholarship

Awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence and who wish to begin their education at the College or who require assistance to continue in College. Preference will be given to students in the nursing program.

Ellen and Thomas Eoyang Family Scholarship

Ellen and Thomas Eoyang Family Scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and financial need. Preference will be given to those of Chinese descent who are majoring in science, mathematics, or humanities.

Entrepreneurial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a business curriculum. Preference is given to a student who is interested in entrepreneurship.

Esther Dutton Kates Fellowship

At the behest of Paul W. Kates, this two-year fellowship is awarded annually to single parents in need of financial assistance who plan to attend WCC full- time for two years.

WCC Foundation Gateway Scholarship

As part of the WCC Foundation’s Gateway Campaign, these scholarships are presented to outstanding matriculated immigrant students who exhibit both merit and need.

Gateway to Education Endowed Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to promising students with a demonstrated financial need who are either foreign born, previously enrolled in the English Language Institute, or the child of immigrant parents (1st generation American) or enrolled in studies that could lead to business development (such as Business Administration, International Business, or Fashion Merchandising) Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Italian Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to students with a 2.5 GPA or better who register for an Italian language course. Full or part-time students are considered.

James W. Cobb Scholarship

Created and funded by the Lower Hudson Valley Diamond Foundation, this scholarship honors James W. Cobb for his dedication and commitment to supporting youth and their educational endeavors. This scholarship opportunity is to be awarded to an outstanding African American female student who maintains a GPA of 2.5 or better and exhibits leadership and financial need. Preference will be given to students that are residents of Westchester or Rockland.

The Key Bank Scholarship

Awarded to a successful full or part-time student who is a New York State resident, and who has a history of community involvement.

Purchase Quaker Meeting Scholarship

In keeping with its mission to serve the needs of the community, Purchase Quaker Meeting provides this annual scholarship to a student of color. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Native Plant Center Scholarship

Awarded to a continuing student who maintains a GPA of at least 2.5 and pursuing a degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Studies.

The Rocchi Family Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate need and are intended to expand opportunities for those who might not otherwise be able to attend college. Preference is given to students who are immigrants or first-generation college students. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Shah and Zion Family Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to deserving students who demonstrate financial need.

The OCA-Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter (OCA-WHV)

Presented to a student of Asian descent how has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 on at least 12 credits.

The Nita and Stephen Lowey Scholarship

Awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and financial need.

James Vereen Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship

Funded by the New Rochelle/White Plains alumni chapter, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding African American male student who maintains a GPA of 2.5 or better and exhibits leadership and need.

Jandon Promise Scholarships

Recognize and reward high academic achievers from Westchester County public high schools who will be starting their educational journey at Westchester Community College. Scholarships are awarded to full-time students who demonstrate financial need and are designed to support students through the two-three years it takes to obtain an associate degree.

Joan Hart Memorial Staff Council Award

Established by family, friends and former colleagues in loving memory of Joan Hart, a former staff member of the college, this award is given to a child of a staff member who is currently attending WCC.

Joseph M. Farber Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of this well-loved, creative adjunct professor of finance who was the son of Polish Immigrants. Knowing that many students of merit just need a “leg up” to fulfill their potential, awards are given to students of academic merit who demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students of immigrant parents or those who are the first in their families to attend college.

Josephine Pischedda Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships are offered to graduates of Mt. Vernon high school, who demonstrate academic potential and financial need.

Kappa Sigma Kappa Scholarships

These awards are presented to students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

Kathleen Bucci Memorial Award

Awarded to a second-year student enrolled in the nursing curriculum, and honors Kathleen Bucci, a graduate of the first nursing class in 1982.

Katherine & David Moore Gateway Scholarships

The fund provides support to students in the intensive and semi-intensive English as a Second Language programs at WCC.

K.M. Kaung, T.C. Kaung & Y.S. Kaung Memorial Scholarships

Awards of varying amounts are made to students who have completed at least 12 credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Recipients are encouraged to assist other students as math tutors.

Leonard Greene Memorial Scholarships

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of inventor and philanthropist Leonard M. Greene, founder of the Institute for SocioEconomic Studies and the Corporate Angel Network. It is awarded to a second year Nursing student who maintains a GPA of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need.

Lim Ebon & Tan Le Eng Memorial Scholarship

This award is given to a student enrolled in a mathematics, engineering or physical sciences curriculum who has completed at least 24 credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Cowan Family Scholarships

A number of scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to second-year students who exhibit merit and need. The fund honors the memory of former WCC Foundation board member, Lois Cowan and her husband, Marvin.

Margaret & Henry Hart Rice Scholarships

These scholarships honor the legacy of support established by this innovative real estate executive and his wife, who believed that financial hardship should not impede success. Scholarships are awarded to continuing students with financial need who display exceptional academic merit.

M & T Bank Scholarships

These awards are presented to students enrolled in business curricula, who demonstrate community involvement, academic achievement and financial need.

Bill and Madeline McFadden Scholarships

This award memorializes this consummate nurse, teacher, and mentor, and her husband, who were dedicated to our scholarship students. It is presented to a student in either the advanced nursing or practical nursing program.

These scholarships were established by Jennifer & Bud Gruenberg in memory of their close friend Jim Wallach, a lifelong Westchester resident and businessman. The award honors his wisdom, warmth, and enthusiastic leadership by supporting students who demonstrate merit and significant need.

Wallach Scholar Awards

Significant scholarships are awarded to outstanding students with demonstrated economic need. Scholarship recipients are paired with mentors who meet regularly with the students.

The Max and Marcella Kahn Memorial Technology Scholarship

These significant scholarships are awarded to incoming or second-year technology students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Nancy Jo Abeles Merit Scholarships

The Nancy Jo Abeles awards were established in 1988 by Joseph and Sophia Abeles in memory of their daughter. Mrs. Abeles devoted most of her life to helping the lives of others, mostly through education. Over the years, she became quite involved with the college, serving on numerous committees and the foundation’s board of directors until her death in 2001. As a departing gift, Mrs. Abeles and her husband Joseph endowed the college with a gift of two million dollars to permanently establish the Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarships. First-Year Merit Scholarships are presented to incoming students who have succeeded in their high schools and/or have demonstrated potential for success at Westchester Community College. Second-Year Merit Scholarships are presented to continuing students who have demonstrated academic excellence at the college.

Peg Rice Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships were created to celebrate an exceptional woman whose extraordinary support changed the lives of hundreds of WCC students, and are awarded to high-achieving continuing students.

Professor Carlo & Emilia Sclafani Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who studies Italian or Italian culture at the college. Preference will be given to members of the Italian club and/or students demonstrating an interest in promoting or learning about Italian culture.

Jane Schneider Memorial Scholarships

Established in loving memory by her husband Charlie, these scholarships recognize Jane’s 20 plus years of teaching at WCC. Beloved professor of Anatomy and Physiology, Jane was a courageous inspiration to her students, encouraging them to “bloom where you are planted.” This scholarship is awarded to hard- working students who demonstrate academic promise and financial need. Preference will be given to women returning to college after a break in schooling or students pursuing a degree in science, biology, or a related field.

Professor Vincent and Mary Lou Greco Scholarship

These awards are given to nursing students in honor of Prof. Vincent Greco’s late wife. Preference is given to students interested in trauma nursing.

These awards are given to nursing students who are mothers, who have demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Rice Family Foundation Computer/Information Systems and Technology Scholarships

Advances in science and technology have a profound influence on society. Awards are given to students who are pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Networking, Cyber Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, Computer-Aided Drafting, Web Development, Civil technology, Engineering Science, Electrical Technology, Telecommunications, Mechanical Technology, and Energy Systems.

Richard & Beth Rodriguez Scholarships

These awards are presented by Prof. Richard Rodriguez and his wife Beth to Hispanic or Latino(a) students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Scarsdale Woman’s Club Scholarships

Presented to female students who demonstrate financial need and maintain a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students who are Westchester residents.

Shirley A. Phillips Scholarships

This scholarship fund was established to honor the former Foundation Executive Director and Vice President Emerita. It is presented to high-achieving female students who exemplify Shirley’s professional spirit and style.

The Flo and Warren Sinsheimer Endowed Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to students who display academic excellence and financial need.

Stadler Family Scholarships

These scholarships were established by former Foundation Board Chairman, Jack Stadler, in support of outstanding continuing students who demonstrate financial need.

Thomas & Agnes Carvel Foundation Scholarships

These scholarships honor the legacy of this legendary Greek-born American businessman and entrepreneur. Tom Carvel’s journey, from immigrant child to self-made success story, is the personification of the American dream. These significant awards are presented to hard-working students who demonstrate academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Preference will be given to those enrolled in business, entrepreneurial studies, or health & human services.

Thomas Kuehl Memorial Scholarship

This award is presented to a continuing student majoring in art or human services who maintains a GPA of 3.0 and demonstrates financial need.

WCC Faculty Scholarship

Funded by contributions from faculty, an award is presented to a new student who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in high school. Renewed for a 2nd year on a 3.25 or better GPA.

Weingarten Family Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

Werlinich Family Scholarship

Presented to motivated, high-achieving students who have graduated from Port Chester High School or Woodlands High School in Hartsdale, NY. These awards, established by Greg Werlinich, Woodlands HS class of 1982, are presented to both incoming and continuing students; preference will be given to those demonstrating financial need.

Westchester Federation of Women’s Clubs Scholarships

These scholarships, based on academic achievement and financial need, are awarded to female students who are continuing at the college in liberal arts, music or fine arts.

David Wray Memorial Scholarship

Presented to a part-time student who is planning to pursue a career in early childhood education and demonstrates academic potential and financial need.
